The RF-enabled applications under ViewPoint Logistics are designed to allow common Warehouse functions to be performed on the Warehouse floor through the use of Radio Frequency hand-held or truck-mounted devices.

All functions that can be performed on the RF device may also be performed on any standard terminal. The only difference is that the display area will (normally) be reduced.

Setups

The sequence of procedures is as follows:

RF.99 [RF System Parameters]

In this program you define some overall characteristics, including whether the RF Operator is able to make certain changes to Orders.

RF.91 [RF Operators]

In this program the security privileges of the Operator are defined, since all the functions available to the Operator are contained within the program.

RF.93 [Unallocated Picking - Set-Ups]

With a variety of Clients and Products being picked, you may wish to set up default parameters for some or all Clients and Products, to display Lots based on Expiry date or Release date. This program allows you to set up these defaults.

RF.92 [Receiving - Default Parameters]

Efficient use of Radio Frequency-based input depends on the entry being limited to the least necessary number of scans/keystrokes. This program allows you to optimize this data entry by configuring default and "skip" fields by function, client, and entry type.

RF.01 [RF Menu]

It is necessary to define which specific functions are allowed (moves and picks and receipts, or only receipts, etc.). The program also specifies which particular options are available (pick by Order number only, or by Client, etc.).

Operations

All RF operations are contained in program RF.01 [RF Menu]. This includes:

• moves of stock,
• receipt of stock,
• picking of Orders,
• stock and Location inquiries,
• unloading operations,
• warehouse selection.

These functions are based on the following:

MOVES

The same functionality as in program SL.01 [Location Adjustments (Move)].

RECEIPT OF STOCK

The same functionality as in program RE.21 [Receipts].

It is important to note that a Receipt must always be started in program RE.21 [Receipts], since that is where the Header information is
entered (there is no facility to do this on an RF unit). The actual sequence of operations is explained in the general documentation in RE.00 [General RE Documentation].

The steps are:

1. Enter the Header information in program RE.21 [Receipts].
2. Use program RF.01 [R.F. Menu] to enter the line/Lot/Location detail.
3. Optionally use program RE.22 [Receipts - Print] for Receipt audit print.
4. Rate the Receipt in program RE.31 [Receipt Invoices].
5. Print the Receipt Invoice in program RE.32 [Receipt Invoices - Print].

PICKING OF ORDERS

This is a new function consisting of 'confirming' the Pick. When the Operator has identified an Order as confirmed for picking, the system automatically makes a move of on-hand stock from the Pick Location to the (eg.) fork lift location. Once the Order is 'dropped', the system does another move from the (eg.) fork lift location to the staging location (this is assigned when scheduling Orders in program OE.03 [Print Shipping Documents]).

The system assigns the Terminal ID to be the (eg.) fork lift location (there is no setup required for this).

STOCK AND LOCATION INQUIRIES

These are based on program SL.20 [Location Contents - Display].

UNLOADING

This is a new function providing the ability to enter Product details without specifying a Receipt number. The usage is to allow an Operator to unload stock (eg. from a delivery truck) and put it aside even if the Receipt Header information has not been entered
beforehand.

WAREHOUSE SELECTION

This is a function specific to the RF menu to allow the Operator to identify the Warehouse in which the person is working. If a Warehouse is not selected, the system will prompt for Warehouse code for each operation.

Additional operations which are available to the office include the ability to send a message to the RF unit, in program CC.50 [Operator Messages].
