These controls provide the functionality for setting and applying your preferences for how you want data to appear as it is loaded into the action grid. Changes are applied immediately but they can also be saved as settings in MyViews.

Launches the Query console for retrieving data from the database. (Query-based action grids only)

More

Query-based action grids are designed to open with no data present. In order to populate this type of grid, you must first compose a query (using query criteria) to retrieve specific data from the database. Note that query changes can be saved (along with Columns , Filter and Sort criteria) to be invoked automatically as part of a view in MyViews.

The colored fields at the beginning of the Query console have been optimized to produce quicker results when accessing the database. If you compose a query using other fields, retrieval times may be much slower (depending on the size of the database.)

For more information about the Query Console, see Query-Based Action Grids.

Launches a console that enables you to reduce the number of action grid columns (or rearrange them) into configurations that are more relevant to your work.

More

Changes are effective immediately after clicking. Note that columns can be saved (along with Query, Filter and Sort criteria) to be invoked automatically as part of a view in MyViews.

Reducing Columns. An operator can easily reduce the number of columns displayed in an action grid. For example, you may choose to create a rendition of the Inbounds-WIP action grid that displays only the quantities that are associated with inbound transactions. Click to enlarge:
Rearranging Columns. You can also rearrange your columns (and panels) into a completely different sequence across the grid.

For more information, see Columns. Note that this feature replaces Renditions as of VL 13.010.

Launches the Settings Table which lists the currently-selected MyView code as well as any Filter or Sort settings that have been applied to the action grid data (rows). You have the option to undo selected criteria, undo all criteria, reset changes to the previously-selected view, or reset changes to the BASE view.

More

This console is also invoked by the button on the Information Bar of every action grid. Note that the criteria reflected in this console can be saved (along with Query and Columns criteria) to be invoked as part of a view in MyViews.

Lists all of the filter/sort/panel settings that have been applied to the currently-open action grid. View settings are displayed in the following order:

  1. Filter and sort settings resulting from the selection of a MyView code (if any)
  2. Ad hoc settings that have been applied manually outside of selected MyView code (if any).

Whenever a Clear is used, it will always appear as the first action in the settings table. The following actions may be taken on the settings listed:

Editing Selected Values

You can make changes to the values associated with selected settings. Just click on the Value contents. This functionality opens an edit field that lets you make changes to the value in a specific setting without have to build the entire sequence from scratch.

Undo Selected

removes the effects of a selected setting.

Undo All

removes the effects of ALL settings and restores the data to its initial state.

Reset MyView

removes all ad hoc settings and re-invokes the currently-selected MyView code (view).

Reset to BASE

removes all settings and invokes the BASE view for the action grid; i.e., resets to VL “factory defaults”.

Note that this feature replaces the Current Settings console as of VL 13.010.

Launches a console for selecting from previously-saved Views that are associated with the currently-open action grid.

More

MyViews allows for a comprehensive sequence of Query, Column, Filter, and Sort, and settings to be saved under a single named definition (a view). When invoked, the saved view settings will replace all the settings that are currently applied to the action grid. The MyViews console also provides the means in which to create a new view (based on applied settings) and change the sequence of View Buttons. You can also set a default view to be applied automatically upon the launch of any action grid.

For more information, see See "Renditions (Deprecated)" Note that this feature replaces Persistent &Transient Views as of VL 13.010.

View Buttons. Quick access buttons for invoking views, each matching one of the codes listed in the MyViews console. Use your mouse scroll button to access more buttons on the ribbon. The sequence of these buttons is based on the MyViews console, which can be reorganized by the user at any time. For more information, see See “Renditions (Deprecated)”

Note: Key enhancements to ViewPoint Logistics have resulted in a new menu format as well as the consolidation, reorganization, and/or renaming of some functionality. For documentation relating to features that existed in versions prior to VL 13.010, see Legacy VL.
